Frequently asked questions

So… what is Bins & Bogs Friends in the Field Collective?
It’s our nature co-op where families meet once a week to play, explore, and learn together. We spend time outdoors, learn about caring for animals, do fun seasonal projects, and just enjoy being a little “village” for each other.
Is this a secular group?
Yes. Our co-op is a secular, inclusive group. We focus on nature, community, and hands-on learning. Families from all backgrounds are welcome, and we ask everyone to come with kindness, respect, and a willingness to build community together.
What kind of activities do you do?
Think nature walks, planting seeds, feeding animals, art projects, and seasonal crafts. Sometimes it’s calm, sometimes it’s messy, and sometimes it’s both, but we’ll always give you a heads-up if it’s an extra “muddy shoes” kind of day!
Can we try it out first?
Absolutely! A trial day is just $5. If you decide to join, we’ll put that $5 toward your first month’s fee.
Who’s it for?
Mostly preschool and early elementary kids, but siblings of all ages can tag along. If your family loves being outdoors (and doesn’t mind a little dirt), you’ll fit right in. We do have an indoor space for stormy or super cold days too.
Do parents stay?
Yes! This isn’t a drop-off group. The whole idea is to build connections between families. We want parents to feel supported too!
What does it cost?
It’s $25/month per family, which covers craft supplies, snacks, and group activities. The cost also helps hold families accountable for showing up and it makes it easier to plan, prepare, and keep things running smoothly when everyone is committed. It takes time and effort to plan and prepare these events, so having consistency is important! If you’re joining mid-month, we’ll gladly prorate your fee so you’re only paying for the weeks you attend.
What kind of activities do you do?
Think nature walks, pond studies, planting seeds, feeding animals, art projects, and seasonal crafts. Sometimes it’s calm, sometimes it’s messy, and sometimes it’s both, but we’ll always give you a heads-up if it’s an extra “muddy shoes” kind of day!
What should we bring?
Play clothes (things you don’t mind getting dirty), sturdy shoes, water bottles, and whatever your kids need for comfort.
Do you meet year-round?
Yep! We love the seasons and plan activities to match them. If the weather is too wild, we either move indoors or reschedule.
How do we join?
Just fill out our short application form here and we’ll be in touch!
Why do I need to fill out an application?
The application isn’t about being “approved” but simply to help us stay organized. It gives us a clear picture of who’s in the group, kids’ ages, and any special needs or allergies we should know about. It also helps us plan activities, send updates to the right people, and make sure families understand what our co-op is all about before jumping in.
